Join us for a spring wild food walk with Jesper Launder. By the end of April the early edible springtime shoots are at their very best for harvest. Large enough but still tender to eat. This foraging walk will introduce some of our most familiar and tasty spring wild foods, offering insight into the many ways they can be eaten, and how to go about safely identifying them. The species will be recorded on this walk in the urban area surrounding The Manchester Museum.
This is an accredited Meet the Species event helping to find and identify 2,012 species of UK wildlife before the end of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. For more information, or to get your own wildlife event accredited with Meet the Species, see www.meetthespecies.org.uk.
Meet the Species is part of Discovering Places – the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad Campaign to inspire the UK to discover their local environment. It is co-ordinated by the Bristol Natural History Consortium, and has joined forces with Local Leaders and Garden for the Games to get as many people as possible enjoying the outdoors and getting closer to nature in a diverse range of events.
